San Diego, California (November 7, 2014) – Dental health is vital not just for adults but also for kids. Unfortunately, many children do not get the dental care they need due to financial limitations. Knowing this, Dr. Justene Doan, a leading dentist in San Diego, teamed up with the non-profit TeamSmile and the San Diego Chargers to give free dental treatments to over 300 youths at the Qualcomm Stadium last October 14.
TeamSmile is one of the nation’s leading advocacy groups that partners with athletic organizations and local dental practitioners to offer free dental services to the area’s underserved youth. During this activity, the kids were given the same triage, treatments, x-rays, preventive care, and education they could receive from visiting traditional dental offices.
Those who were waiting their turn on the dentist’s chair got to hang out with the Chargers’ roster, including Andrew Gachkar, offensive lineman Jeremiah Sirles, safety Marcus Gilchrist, kicker Nick Novak, and offensive lineman Craig Watts. They also had a blast singing and dancing with the Chargers girls. There was also an autograph signing, and free shirts were given away.
Of course, the main goal of the event was to give kids proper dental attention so their young teeth can last a lifetime. Furthermore, the care they received will prevent toothaches from developing, which is one of the leading causes of student absenteeism.
Dr. Doan and A+ Family Dentistry believe in giving back to the community, and TeamSmile outreach events are just one of the many ways they help kids have healthy smiles. To learn more about the practice’s services, simply visit www.APlusFamilyDentistry.com.
